Family Water Tariff
The Family Water Tariff is a specially designed tariff for families containing five or more persons, with three consumption tiers. View the tariff.
The purpose of this tariff is to ensure that the higher consumption resulting from the size of the household is not billed at the higher levels.
It is necessary to present:
- Annual Income Tax Declaration showing proof of household size or
- Large Family Card

1m3 consists of 1000 litres Social Water Tariff
EPAL has created a social tariff for the poorest families in the city of Lisbon, which provides discounts that can rise to 93%.
If the gross income of your household is less than 75% of the annual value of the minimum monthly wage, apply for this tariff and benefit from a discount on your Water Bill!
Benefits of this tariff
- The first 15 m3 of water consumed per month is charged at the Tier 1 tariff for Domestic Customers
- Discount of €5.60, corresponding to the cost of the Standing Charge for Domestic Customers with a 15 mm calibre meter
Eligibility conditions
You must prove that your household's income is less than 75% of the annual value of the minimum monthly wage by presenting:
- Annual Tax Return, with Payment Receipt
or, if you are exempt from submitting a Tax Return
- Certificate of total income, issued by the Tax Authority
Please Note | You must apply for renewal of this tariff every two years
