Analytical data for checking water quality within EPAL's Supply System, obtained within the scope of the Water Quality Control Plan in EPAL's Supply System, is communicated to "Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços de Águas e Resíduos" (ERSAR), the proper Health Authorities, managing bodies to which EPAL supplies water, and the consumers of the city of Lisbon.
According to that established in No. 5 of Article 15 of Decree-Law No. 306/2007, from August 27th, EPAL will inform ERSAR by March 31st of the following year of the water quality for human consumption results regarding the legal control component (Lisbon consumer taps, delivery points to managing bodies, and delivery points to direct customers supplied through the adduction/transport system).
As established in No. 1 of Article 17 of the same legal document, EPAL shall provide the national press, every three months, with statistics of analyses showing compliance by means of collected water from the taps of Lisbon consumers, and as established in No. 4 of Article 17, they will also provide the managing bodies who are supplied with their water, every three months, with the statistics of analyses showing compliance, which were carried out at the delivery points.
EPAL's website shows the statistics of analyses showing compliance by means of collected water from the taps of Lisbon consumers (monthly), in fixed sampling points of the city's distribution network (monthly), delivery points to the managing bodies (monthly), in the adduction/transport system (quarterly) and water origins used for the production of water for human consumption (annually).
EPAL will also send every three months the statistics of analysed water samples collected from sampling points representing the supply of water to the managing bodies.
Results obtained within the scope of legal control shall be annually assessed by "Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços de Águas e Resíduos" (ERSAR) and published on the 'RASARP (Annual Report on Water and Waste Services in Portugal)'.
Following volume 4 of the aforementioned report, and for the first time in 2013, Entidade Reguladora dos Serviços de Águas e Resíduos (ERSAR) has awarded EPAL with an 'Exemplary Water for Human Consumption Stamp'.
The annual RASARP editions are available on the
ERSAR website.
