The “
Here I drink Tap Water” collection was launched yesterday, an EPAL project in partnership with Zomato, which challenges restaurants in Lisbon to make tap water available to their customers, raising awareness of more sustainable consumption habits, as well as reducing the use of plastic bottles.
There are already more than 30 participating restaurants, and many more are expected to join this environmentally friendly initiative, a first in Portugal.
In the year that Lisbon is European Green Capital and, within the scope of the project developed by EPAL in favour of the circular economy and the promotion of good environmental practices, the “Here I drink Tap Water” collection available on the Zomato app displays the restaurants that accepted the challenge in this environmental mission.
For this purpose, EPAL glass jugs and bottles were made available to all restaurants.
Zomato is a restaurant discovery mobile application that provides information on more than one million restaurants in 24 countries. Detailed and updated content includes restaurant menus, photos, location coordinates and other information.
Drinking tap water is a simple act, but with a great impact in favour of protecting the environment. It avoids the unnecessary consumption of plastic and offers the possibility of drinking excellent quality water, subject to more than 300 thousand analyses per year, making it the most controlled food product.
This new “Here I drink Tap Water” collection begins with more than 30 restaurants that have joined EPAL and Zomato with a view to promoting greener habits and behaviours, while focusing consumers’ attention on these establishments, positioning them as sustainable and environmentally friendly.
In this way, consumers can make their consumption decisions based on information about which restaurants promote the consumption of tap water and make it available, thus rewarding those that adopt these good environmental practices.
The aim is for this collection to grow organically and for more and more restaurants to come on board and make this initiative something truly amazing and great for the environment.
Câmara Municipal de Lisboa (Lisbon City Council), Turismo de Portugal (Portuguese Tourist Board), ZERO and Lisboa E-Nova are also partners of this project.
From now on, whenever you go to dinner or have lunch at one of these restaurants, you will be contributing to a cleaner planet.
Eat well, accompanied by good water and respect for nature!
